Now that you're more familiar with the range of kilt options and more clear about the type of kilt you want, you will need to locate a reputable kiltmaker or seller. Do comparison shopping at several places to ensure you get top quality for the money. If your price quotes are all in the range of $300-$550, and you find a lone kiltmaker online who quotes a price of $150, ask yourself why, raise a mental red flag, and take your business elsewhere. Never go with the cheapest vendor; instead, find the vendor who makes high-quality goods at the most reasonable price. Measurements are critical pieces of information for your kiltmaker, and include height, weight, waist, hips, and kilt length. Get his advice on the best way to perform each measurement, to ensure accuracy and an optimal fit for the finished garment. From the date the kiltmaker has received your deposit and measurements, it typically takes two months for your kilt to be completed and delivered to you. While you are awaiting delivery, you may wish to shop for hose, sporrans, waistbands, linings, straps, bonnets, buckles, and like accessories to enhance your new look. For tips on choosing accessories that will nicely complement your new kilt, please refer to the article on Sporrans and Accessories.
