Lullaby - Average Rating:
Album Description:
A collection of traditional lullabies from Ireland, Scotland, Wales & beyond
to coax, cuddle and caress a child to sleep. Ethereal and enduring, each of
these cradle songs has a melody that delights and lingers within the listener.
The Boston globe called this compilation “the sleeper of the year” because
as soothing as these songs are to a child, they will also satisfy and please
a parent. Harps, whistles, mandolins and flutes create crystalline textures,
and the Gaelic lyrics and translations provided give insight into linguistic
rhythms, shades of meaning, and even historical references.

Beautiful music... incredible voice
I heard two cuts from this album today on the radio, and raced home to look
up whose voice was behind these incredible songs. Julianne Baird has a hauntingly
beautiful voice, very soothing and relaxing. Don't be intimidated by the CD
cover - this is a great classical album for adults as well as children.

The music is superb. Although it would not be used to put the baby
to sleep, it is a wonderful choice for one-to-one relaxing time with
baby. An excellent addition to the new baby's music collection. I listened
to it with my class in school before giving it to my brand new grandson.
I now give it as a gift to all newborns.
